2009/10 Big Hat Contest Rules

There are valuable prizes and unique opportunities awaiting all the new hatters and re-hatters this year.  Does “Free Registration in Naples” or telling a sergeant-at-arms to “Shove Off” sound like fun?

Here’s the deal.  The person who brings in the most members between July 1, 2009, and June 31, 2010, will receive free registration at the National Conference in Naples, Florida.

Any person who receives their big hat or re-hats during the same time period will immediately receive a special hatband.  This band will be festooned with the letters “KMA”.  When confronted by a sergeant-at-arms who is demanding money, the fortunate individual wearing this band on his or her hat shall simply utter “KMA”, which could stand for “Kip Miles Award” in honor of a black hatter of dubious distinction, but could possibly represent another meaning entirely.  They will thus be immune from fines for the remainder of the year and through the Big Hat Breakfast in Naples.  Hat and band must be worn to enjoy this immunity! Third, a competition will be held during the same time period.

AMBUCS members will be awarded points based on the following guidelines:

1.  Each new member signed up during the aforementioned term            1 Point
2. Each convention attended (Regional, National, Spring Conference)      1 Point
3. Receiving a big hat or re-hatting                                                2 Points
4. Participating on a new club building team                                                   2 Points
5. Being the spark plug on a new club building team                                     5 Points
6. Signing a pledge to hat/rehat while attending regional convention       1 Points

Contestants will be required to calculate their own points and submit them to the big hat secretary prior to July 1, 2010 if they wish to participate in this contest.  The points will be verified, and the top five producers will be rewarded with prizes and recognition beyond their wildest imagination at the big hat breakfast in Naples.  The top score will receive free registration in Naples, and all will receive complimentary big hat breakfasts in addition to their other prizes.

As with all highly valued prizes and compensations, participants must be present to win.

Have fun, recruit new members, build clubs and join us in Naples!
