Big Hat Club

A little bit of history...

The Big Hat Club is an honor group within the AMBUCS association. It was started by Past National President Charles E. Mitchell during his term at the June 18, 1939, executive board meeting. The idea was to present a shirt to each AMBUC able to recruit at least three new members in a 12-month period. The concept was to create incentive to bringing in new AMBUC members. The individual who brought in the most new members would receive the "Rabbit Trophy"! Fortunately, at the July 2 meeting it was decided to award a ten-gallon hat instead and recipients would form a Big Hat Club.

These special, fun-loving members are the backbone of AMBUCS and provide leadership in recruiting new members and supporting the AMBUCS mission.

A Message from National Big Hat President...

It was a wonderful National Conference and very profitable Big Hat auction in Oklahoma City this past July! Your National Board changed it up a bit which proved to be a huge success! So let’s mix it up a little more this year and see if we can have even more fun, raise more money and bring in more new members in the 2012-2013 AMBUC year!

I’m asking each Big Hatter to “Reach for the Big Hat Stars!” It’s an individual or club pledge of just $300 to become eligible for a chance to win big! I’m looking for at least 100 Big Hatters who will make the commitment to contribute this small amount of money - less than $1.00 a day - to support our fundraising efforts for the year. 75 Big Hatters or Big Hat Clubs pledged $300 in Oklahoma City to kick off this fundraising effort! That’s already $22,500 gathered in just a few minutes towards making this the BIGGEST YEAR YET!
