Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get an AmTryke® therapeutic tricycle for my child or loved one?
We recommend that you first view our chapter directory to you see if there is an AMBUCS chapter in your area that may be able to help you acquire an AmTryke for your child or loved one. If not, you can still get an AmTryke tricycle by one of two ways: You can either purchase a trike through to the AmTryke Store or, if you are unable to afford the cost of a trike, you can place you the name of the individual in need on our Wish List.

What is the Wish List?
When a individual with disabilities is unable to afford the cost of an AmTryke and the required forms are filled out and submitted to the AMBUCS Resource Center, that person's name is placed on our Wish List. When a chapter raises the funds the next name is picked off the list, they are notified and the trike is shipped to their home.

What Forms Are Required to be Filled Out?
There are three forms that must be submitted to the local AMBUCS™ chapter or the Resource Center. They are:
Request Form- This form can be filled out by the parent or therapist. Make sure a physical address is provided since we cannot ship to a PO Box.
Assessment Form- National AMBUCS, Inc. and AmTryke®, LLC believe in therapeutic intervention and require that either a therapist or physician be consulted before a trike is provided for a child. This form must be filled out completely and signed off on by either the child's therapist or physician.
Liability Waiver- The parent or guardian must sign the Waiver an submit it with the other forms.

Where can someone try out an AmTryke tricycle?
There are over 200 AmTryke Demonstration Sites across the United States. You can find if one is near you visiting our online DemoSite list. Click on your state and browse the available sites and contact information. Call the contact person and ask for an AmTryke evaluation. They will have the forms there to be submitted for a trike.

What if there isn't a site near me?
Take the request form, assessment form, and liability waiver to your child's therapist or physician. The arm length and leg inseam length are particularly important if the child has not tried a trike.

Where can I print information on all of the AmTrykes and accessories?
Download and print the latest AmTryke product catalogue here.  The product flyer includes photos and descriptions for each model of AmTryke and all accessories!  Print it out and share it with your therapists or client's parents.

How do the trikes work?
The AmTryke works with a continuous chain mechanism that moves the hands and feet together. This allows the stronger limbs to help the weaker limbs and build strength and stamina.

Can the trikes be adapted further?
Yes, while the trikes in their standard form will work for most children we realize that many children require further adaptations for the trike to work for them. AmTryke, LLC has developed a line of accessory items to further adapt a trike to a child's needs. You can check these accessories out in Store.

How are the trikes shipped?
AmTryke tricycles and accessories are shipped FedEx Ground.

How do I purchase a trike?
You can place an order on our online store site or call 1-888-AMTRYKE (268-7953). AmTryke®, LLC accepts payment in the form of Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Please allow 5 to 7 days for delivery.

What is the wait time for wish list requests?
Wish List Requests are filled as AMBUCS chapters raise the funds. General wait time is three months to one year. This may lengthen or shorten based on availability of funds.
