The Sooner AMBUCS chapter in Norman, OK, between January 1998 and June 2001, has given over 1,200 computers to adults and children with disabilities. This is a great project for a chapter of any size and successfully furthers the AMBUCS mission of “creating independence for people with disabilities.” This project is a great model for chapters interested in expanding its programs. The Sooner AMBUCS chapter receive donated computers, some old, some newer, and adapt them to the needs of people of all ages. If you and/or your chapter is interested in supporting the ASK project or starting one of your own, read the story of ASK. This story will explain the components necessary to make a project like this work. You can contact AMBUCS Resource Center or Sooner AMBUCS member Adri-Anne Trammell with any questions regarding the process of starting your own program modeled after the ASK Project. If you live in Oklahoma and are interested in receiving assistance from the ASK project, please contact Adri-Anne Trammell or Phil Carlson. If you would like to donate a computer or equipment to the ASK project, please ship to:
